A new teaching job might seem like an appealing prospect if you are getting bored in your current school. There is a lot to think about though, so you do have to be sure you’re making the right decision. Here are some of the points you should consider:
- It can be easier to wait for internal promotions. Many schools tend to hire internally for positions like heads of department and heads of year. Keep an eye out for positions like this becoming available.
- You may feel like you really need a new challenge and environment. If this is the case, it may be best to look for a new job. Never let yourself feel like you are losing your enthusiasm for teaching.
- Speak to other members of staff. They may be able to tell you about other schools and what it’s like to work in them. Make the most of their knowledge.
